Tunbridge Wells Poetry Festival – something for all, big or small

15th – 227th August

Welcome to two weeks of poetry pleasure. With an event every day you are sure to find something of interest. There are poetry workshops, readings, a family fun word day, a Pam Slam celebrating light verse and national treasure Pan Ayres (not in attendance) , and several headline events to enjoy. To ensure that all can take part, there are online as well as face-to-face events. The event is supported by the Kent & Sussex Poetry Society.

An Evening with Luke Wright, Thu 19th August, 7.30pm. Luke is a fast rising star in the poetry world. and winner of the of the 2021 Saboteur Award for Best Spoken Word Performer. This is your only chance to see him in the South East in the next few months. “Luke Wright is one of the greats. A poetic pugilist. Beguiling and hypnotic.” Carl Barât. “His performances rumble with rage, passion and humour.”Guardian

The Wordplay Fun Day is a free-entry family event hosted at the Tunbridge Wells Forum on Sun August 22nd from 2:00 – 5:30pm.

The Pam Slam, is more than an evening of poetry. It is, if you will, a variety bill of words and music, with sketches and monologues and everything in-between. Sun Aug 22nd 7.00pm-9.30pm.

Remember the Earth, Whose Skin You Are. Powerful performances and original soundscapes celebrating life on planet Earth. With Steve Walter and Roger West. Tue 24th August 8.00pm

Selfie – The Lockdown Edition. An evening of poetry, prose, videos and music on the theme of lime in lockdown. A characteristic wry performance by Charlie Bell. 27th August 7.30pm.
